2006 Bookmark Exchange
Theme: Courageous Past, Bold Future

Please Bring Bookmarks to Annual Conference

Please have each member of Annual Conference (representing your church or area of ministry) bring three bookmarks to exchange — one per day. The intent is to exchange a bookmark with someone you have never met, in order to build bonds of friendship across our conference. The bookmarks this year should tie in to the theme of the "50th Anniversary Celebration of Full Clergy Rights for Women." Please celebrate a woman who has been significant in the life of your church or ministry. You may expand on this theme to include a Sunday School teacher, Pastor, Bible School teacher, youth worker, grandmother who keeps the nursery, Wonderful Wednesday kitchen helper, or other church member who has made significant contributions to the ministries of your church or who has contributed to the richness of the Christian life of your ministry.

You are encouraged to honor more than one woman (surely there are many in each congregation or group) with your bookmarks — perhaps a different one on every bookmark you prepare.

How do I make a bookmark?

Using cardstock (which is readily available at office supply stores) and Microsoft Word or Publisher, print the name of your honoree, something about her accomplishments, and your church or ministry name and address. You might want to include her photo and/or have her autograph the bookmark (see sample).

Size is up to you, but you can make four bookmarks
2 3/4" x 8 1/2" from a single sheet of letter size cardstock. Colorful paper is fun, but it is not required, if white is what is available. Use a hole-punch to make a hole near the end of the bookmark, loop a colorful ribbon or piece of yarn through the hole, and you are done!
