Children's Ministry

The children's ministry here at Trinity revolves around helping the parents/guardians create a family environment that honors God. Our strongest tool for accomplishing that goal is Sunday School Village. Each six weeks a theme/Bible story and memory verse is chosen. The children learn the same story and memory verse six different ways through workshops. The six workshops are: cooking/science, art, drama, cinema, storytelling, and games. We have a room designated for each workshop. Every lesson begins with the children opening up an age- appropriate Bible and reading the story, reciting the memory verse and saying a prayer. After the activity of the day, the children have a journal to record thoughts, prayer request are taken and a prayer is lead by the teacher. Sunday school begins 9:45 am every Sunday morning and the children's wing is a place of laughter, learning and fun.

Throughout the year, we plan special events to help our children and parents grow together as a church family. The events include the annual "trunk or treat" (we decorate the trunks of our cars and hand out treats), we travel to the local corn maze, family camp weekend at Buffalo Mountain Camp. These are just examples of the fun things we plan together. We know that parenting is not easy and parents need help and support to keep God in their hectic lives.

Our vacation Bible school is always a huge hit! We not only cover Bible stories, characters and life lessons but we encourage children to participate in a mission project like the food pantry or heifer international. Each night they are invited to bring a contribution.

Children are also invited to participate in worship by training with Mrs. Ruth to be an acolyte. An acolyte's job is to light the candles during worship and assist with the offering. Acolytes also participate in special worship events like Maunday Thursday and Christmas Eve communion. We also have a special "children's moment" during our Sunday 11 am worship service. Children are invited to hear a message from Pastor Amy and take up "change for children". This is an opportunity for the congregation to empty their pockets of change for Holston Home for children. Our children visit Holston Home every two years for a tour, learning about the place they support every Sunday.

At Trinity, we believe in investing time and effort by giving our children a great start in their faith walk by learning the Bible, teaching them how to apply the Bible to their lives and helping them do a mission for God.
