- Jubilee House in Abingdon Virginia is a wonderful place for clergywomen to take retreats.
- Hinton rural life center is awesome. And the first night is free. Individual hermitage houses come fully equipped for cooking your own meals, so that other than the grocery store or chance meetings when you walk in the beautiful outdoor setting it is just you and God. Spiritual direction is available with advance arrangements. The Hermitage House I stayed in came with Marjorie thompson’s Soulfeast, spiritual formation bible, and a book of prayers compiled by the namesake of the Hermitage House, Rene’ Bideaux. I also brought with me Rueben Job’s guide to retreat for all God’s shepherds, recommended to me by a colleague who also goes on personal retreats. This time alone with god is very healing and god does speak to your heart.
