HOLSTON CONFERENCE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
The Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministries of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church
The Holston Conference Merit Scholarship is designed to assist students attending Holston Conference United Methodist Colleges. The award is administered on a rotating basis between the United Methodist colleges in the Holston Conference (Emory & Henry, Hiwassee, and Tennessee Wesleyan). In the 2004 2005 academic year, the scholarship will be awarded to a student choosing to attend Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tennessee. The award is based on merit as demonstrated by academic scholarship, church and community involvement, and financial need.
Amount of Award: $530 (varies yearly according to level of giving to Student Day offering)
Eligibility requirements for applicants:
- Will be an entering freshman at Hiwassee College
- Demonstrate an active role in a Holston Conference United Methodist Church
- Demonstrate an active role in the local community
- Show academic merit and financial need
Application procedure:
- Complete Merit Scholarship application (PDF)
- Provide two (2) local letters of reference from: 1) applicants pastor, and 2) a teacher, coach, or mentor.
- Submit application form and references to the Hiwassee College address below. Application packets must be postmarked by April 1, 2004. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The scholarship recipient will be notified by June 1, 2004.
