Mistake
The Sacred Grounds Cafe has a new chef who bakes wonderful pies. One day as the staff and I were eating outside he gave us two slices of pie. One was a strawberry pie that he was obviously proud of. And the other was a lemon and almond mix pie. He said, "I made a mistake and put too much almond in it. You may not like it." Well, as it turned out, it was delicious. I reflected on this and realized that there have been many times in my life that I made mistakes and oh was I ever glad that I did. In fact, I now realize that the hand of God was in those mistakes. Have you ever made a mistake that turned out right?

Just a note to tell you how much we enjoyed conference. Surley God was in our midst!
I can't wait until next year when you just might take the brakes off. If you do, you may be surprised to see how many Meth-a-costals are in the audience. I do believe that God was pleased this week.
Thank you for your sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

HELLO BISHOP SWANSON
I AM A FELLOW METHODIST AND VERY AMATEUR COMPUTER USER SINCE I DONT OWN ONE OR HAVE INTERNET SERVICE AT HOME. I AM ALLOWED ACCESS AND USE OF THE INTERNET AT WORK DURING DOWN TIME AT MY JOB AS A FIREFIGHTER. I READ ABOUT YOU IN THE KNOXVILLE PAPER AND READ YOUR BLOG ENTRIES. I HOPE OTHERS FIND YOUR SITE AND READ AND COMMUNICATE ALSO. INDEED THE CHURCH NEEDS TO ADAPT TO THE CHANGING TIMES TO BE ABLE TO RETAIN OLD FAITHFULS AND REACH NEW PEOPLE THAT HAVE NOT HAD THE CHURCH EXPERIENCE OR BEEN TOLD OF THE MESSAGE OF JESUS AND HIS OFFER OF SALVATION. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO BE LEARNED EVERY DAY. FOR EXAMPLE, I WAS IN MY 40'S BEFORE I KNEW WHAT THE BOOK OF DISCIPLINE WAS AND WHAT IT MEANT FOR ME OR THE METHODIST CHURCH. I WONDERED WHY NO ONE HAD EVER USED IT AS PART OF MY CONTINUING EDUCATION IN THE METHODIST CHURCH. WELL I DONT WANT TO BE LONG WINDED, SO I WILL CLOSE FOR NOW. GOOD LUCK WITH THE COMPUTER AND I HOPE TO MEET YOU IN PERSON SOMEDAY. A METHODIST FROM THE MORRISTOWN DISTRICT.
