CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. First-Centenary UMC seeks organist for 2,600-member church. Responsibilities include: Plan and prepare appropriate service music and provide leadership for congregational hymn singing in two Sunday worship services (plus additional seasonal worship services and concerts). Accompany Chancel Choir. Accompany other choirs and soloists/ensembles as needed. Candidate must have excellent accompanying and creative hymn-playing skills and versatility in a broad range of musical styles. Depending on education, experience and interest, there may be opportunity for adjunct teaching and/or accompanying at a local university. Three manual, 60 rank Schantz organ (new midi-capable console in 1999 and 18 ranks added in 2002). Candidate should have minimum bachelors degree in music with training and experience in sacred music preferred.
