District Roundup News

Maryville:
As a volunteer at Sevier County's food bank, Sally Morrisey has long noticed that peanut butter is practical food for homeless people. "A lot of them have no stove, no means of cooking. Some live in their cars," explains Morrisey, who's in her 80s. So on the second Sunday of every month, Morrisey asks fellow parishioners at First Pigeon Forge UMC to bring in peanut butter. Just peanut butter. So far, about 20 jars have been collected per month, but Morrissey hopes the drive will really take off once the routine sticks.
