General Conference delegates prepare for major meeting

by Annette Bender

Every four years, delegates representing United Methodist conferences gather to make decisions about policies for the denomination. At Annual Conference 2003 in Lake Junaluska, N.C., members elected eight clergy and eight lay delegates to represent Holston. They also elected alternate delegates who will serve as Jurisdictional Conference delegates in July and who will step up to replace any General Conference delegates who may not be able to attend. General Conference delegates will travel to Pittsburgh for the denomination's major meeting April 27-May 7.
