MISSIONS
HANDS ON!
Africa collection starts now, ends in June
Cornmeal, tea, and rice. Shampoo, lotion, and aspirin. All over Holston, churches are gearing up for the 2007 Hands-On Mission Project, which will benefit missions in Zimbabwe and Liberia. Each district has its own assignment. For example, the Morristown and Knoxville Districts are collecting food products and packing them into five-gallon buckets for Ishe Anesu, led by Maria Humbane in Zimbabwe. The Cleveland District is collecting personal-health items and packing them into two-gallon sealable plastic bags for a Liberia mission led by Mary and Herbert Zigbuo.
Information about your district's assignment is available from your district office, or by visiting missions.holston.org (click on "download brochure" under "2007 Hands-on Project"). Each district also has its own drop-off point and deadline for delivering supplies (see list below). Donations from each district will be loaded into tractor-trailer trucks and transported to Lake Junaluska, N.C., on June 11. There, the Holston Annual Conference will pray for the supplies to bless the lives of people in Zimbabwe and Liberia.
