Drop-off points announced for hands-on project
Churches are gearing up for Annual Conference 2003 by collecting food, health, and school supplies for three countries in Africa.
The annual "hands-on" mission project involves all 931 Holston congregations, which are collecting supplies assigned by district. For example, Wytheville District is assembling 250 health kits (towels, toothpaste, shampoo) for Ishe Anesu mission in Zimbabwe. Morristown is assembling 300 teacher kits (chalk, dictionaries, notebooks) for Methodist schools in Liberia.
Kenya also is benefiting from the annual spring mission project. On May 4, churches took up a conference-wide offering with a goal of $125,000 for Kenya Methodist University. Abingdon, Kingsport and Johnson City Districts are collecting school supplies for school children in Kenya.
