From District Roundup
Abingdon: Members at South Bristol UMC set out to stock every cruiser in the Bristol, Tenn., police department with stuffed animals. The idea is for officers to offer cuddly comfort to children involved in traffic accidents or domestic disputes. "We tie it all into the Safe Sanctuaries project," Pastor Charles Ledger says. "If you don't treat children as special citizens, you'll have a declining church." The congregation has collected about 400 new or like-new stuffed animals in what will be an ongoing project.
