Watermelon on Sunday afternoon
TAZEWELL, Tenn. Christian Laprade, age 3, gets her chin wet following a playground dedication at Tazewell United Methodist Church. Three years ago, the congregation included three children. Today, about 40 kids participate in Tazewell's new Sunday school classes, Wednesday night programs, and children's sermons. Since many of the children and their families come from a nearby apartment building, the congregation recently raised money to build a community playground. "We're going to get as many kids in here as we can," said Althea Hardin, children's coordinator. Tazewell's pastor, the Rev. Scott Ketron, and Oak Ridge District superintendent, the Rev. Ken Henderlight, led the July 20 dedication ceremony.
