From District Roundup
Morristown:
To maintain Sunday school attendance throughout summer, Hardin's Chapel UMC devised a duck-race incentive program. Come just one Sunday, and you get one rubber duck. Come every Sunday in summer, and you get three ducks. Bring a visitor, you get another duck. And so on. At the end of the season, the congregation has a big duck race in the creek behind the church. Prizes are awarded to the winners. Race organizer Dan Duggar is satisfied that in the last two summers, the duckies (about 70 in all) have helped keep attendance in the 60s. They're now safely tucked away in the church until next summer.
