Chattanooga: Six years after it was "planted" by the conference, Lighthouse UMC celebrated an Aug. 27 groundbreaking with Bishop James Swanson. "The congregation was about to explode with excitement," says the Rev. Richard Richter. Celebration Sunday is Sept. 24, when parishioners will bring in rocks from the property that they've been using as prayer reminders and make commitments to pay the $500,000 loan. The building will be a "sprung instant structure" (www.sprung.com), completed in time for a holiday hayride/open house Dec. 16-17.
