New bookstore opens
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The second Cokesbury Bookstore in Holston Conference opened on Nov. 18 with a stream of local customers.
Located in a former warehouse building on 2615 South Roan Street, the new store is the the 75th Cokesbury Bookstore in the nation, according to a spokesperson in the company's Nashville, Tenn., headquarters. In March 1998, a bookstore opened in Knoxville at Cokesbury Center with 6,000 square feet of selling space.
The new store has 1,800 square feet of selling space and a full line of Cokesbury products "for the church professionals and the congregations they serve," according to Manager Jan Butler.
"The store is being warmly received," she said. "Customers have told us repeatedly, 'We're so glad you're here.'"
Store hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Open House, when most products are reduced by 25 percent, is scheduled for Dec. 10-11.
Cherokee United Methodist Church is scheduled to join the bookstore in the same building in the near future.
