Eight groups receive grants for kid ministries
The Change for Children committee recently awarded a total $11,200 to eight Holston groups requesting grants for kidrelated ministries.
Grant recipients were selected from among 13 applicants requesting more than $75,000 for programs, according to Bill Daugherty, Holston coordinator for missions. "We were not able to fund any request totally, but we hope these grants will encourage groups to continue their good works for the children of Holston."
This year, more than $33,000 has been awarded to ministries within conference boundaries, Daugherty said. Change for Children also benefits Hope for the Children of Africa, a global ministry.
Church groups and individuals are encouraged to collect loose change for the mission through Sunday school, vacation Bible school and other opportunities. For more information on collecting monies or applying for a grant, visit www.holstonconference.com/children/ change.html or call the children's ministry office at (423) 928-2156.
