TOP STORY: Sudan note cards sold for ministry benefit

By buying boxes of Sudan note cards, church members can help Holston Conference rebuild the war-ravaged community of Yei, Sudan. Each $10 box contains eight cards, with four different designs. 'One Small Light': A free Christmas story and music program

The General Board of Discipleship offers an original Christmas story, which may be used as a seasonal program or in a service of worship. Various scenes within the story are separated by congregational singing of familiar Christmas carols.

Catholic outreach to gays: Who said that?

"It is not sufficient for those involved in this ministry to adopt a position of distant neutrality with regard to Church teaching."

— The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, who on Nov. 14 approved new guidelines on outreach to gays. According to the Associated Press, the bishops tried to support gay parishioners while strictly affirming the church stance that same-sex relationships are "disordered."
