March Forth:
Training for children's ministry workers, here in Holston

FOR THE SECOND time, children's ministry workers can choose from a bonanza of training opportunities - without ever leaving Holston Conference.

"March Forth for Children" is a biannual event, scheduled this year for March 3-4 at First Farragut United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge District. "March Forth" debuted in March 2004, drawing more than 200 workers from four states.

This year's schedule includes 25 workshop choices for professionals and volunteers who work with children ages 0-12. Workshop topics include "Wiggly Music for Preschoolers" and "Friendraising for Funds."

"March Forth for Children is unique because you can register for the entire event or register for what interests you," said Anita Henderlight, Holston coordinator of children's ministries. "Perhaps you only want Vacation Bible School information? Then sign up just for Saturday afternoon. Or if you want to hear Bishop Swanson's keynote address, then register just for Friday night.

"People can still participate in March Forth for Children even if they can't come for the whole conference," Henderlight said.

In addition to workshops on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, participants may opt for a pre-conference event beginning Friday morning. "Worship for Life," a new resource collection designed to help children explore and experience worship, will be introduced by its creators. On Friday night, participants are invited to a Celebration Dinner with Bishop James Swanson.

Registration fees range from $50 for a full package (includes four workshops, the VBS Bonus, Friday Celebration Dinner, Saturday continental breakfast, and snacks) to $10 for the Friday Celebration Dinner only.

The "Worship for Life" pre-conference event is free of charge. Hotel accommodations are separate and must be made by individual participants.

Registration forms and fees are due by Feb. 17. A late fee of $25 will be required for walk-ins and registrations postmarked after Feb. 17.

March Forth for Children offers .1 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for each workshop attended.
