Pensions campaign office closes on July 12
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The Legacy of Commitment pensions campaign office in Knoxville closed July 12. Accounting and funds collection have shifted to the Johnson City conference office, Campaign Director Ron Hammond recently announced.
Congregations that have not submitted monies received on Retired Ministers Sunday in April should do so as soon as possible, Hammond said. After each payment, an envelope with the Johnson City address will be returned to the donor along with a receipt and deposit slip for the next payment.
Gifts and pledges made by church members on Retired Ministers Sunday are currently being processed in the Johnson City office. Letters of appreciation along with receipts and confirmation of these gifts will be sent as soon as possible, Hammond said.
"Please encourage pastors and laity to faithfully pay the commitments that have been made," he said. "We have exceeded the goal. But this is a true victory only if these commitments are honored."
More than $5 million has been collected for the campaign through May, according to Hammond. At Annual Conference in June, campaign leaders announced that more than $8 million in pledges had been received, exceeding the three-year campaign's $7.8 million goal.
