Mission Team Departs for Kenya

ALCOA, Tenn. – Jerry Russell led a team of eight to Africa earlier this month to help distribute supplies and funds donated by Holston churches. The team was scheduled to depart on Aug. 15, but an electrical blackout in Detroit, where the flight was to connect, kept workers on the ground for two more days. The team finally boarded a flight on Aug. 17. In addition to distributing supplies, Russell said the mission workers would pour concrete and dig a septic tank for a Methodist school for street children. Russell and company are scheduled to return to the states on Aug. 30.
