Volunteers Desperately Needed

On July 23-27, on the University of Tennessee campus, about
1,000 volunteers from Holston are still needed for design and decoration, technical support, transportation, office staffing, registration, campus guides, safety and emergency services, pre- and post-event cleanup, and more. Volunteers are not required to sign up for the entire week. Come for one day, one shift or one hour. For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, EMAIL or call (865) 690-4080. African Bishops Ask for Assistance

Bishop John Innis of Liberia and Bishop Ntambo Nkulu Ntanda of the Democratic Republic of Congo, are asking for prayers and donations for UM humanitarian ministries in their strife-ridden countries.

Tens of thousands displaced due to brutal fighting in Liberia are in need of shelter, water, food and clothing. Gifts may be made to Liberia Emergency Advance #150300.

Similar circumstances exist for people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Gifts may be made to DR Congo Emergency Advance #198400.

Peace With Justice Network Events in August

You are invited to broadcast and participate in events for peacemaking in our parish. The Peace with Justice Committee, as a part of the Outreach/Advocacy Ministry Team of Holston Conference, is a co-sponsor of the Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance (OREPA) along with the Presbyterian Peacemaking Committee, Pax Christi, the Student Environmental Action Coalition, and others who want to take nonviolent action to "Stop the Bombs".

Camp Meeting August 3-6, 2003

The churches of the Johnson City District invite you to the 183rd annual Sulphur Springs Camp Meeting, from Sunday, August 3, through Wednesday, August 6. It's a Real Powwow in Tellico Plains

Holston Conference Native American Ministries will host their fifth annual Gathering at Coker Creek Village near Tellico Plains, Tenn., on Sept. 20-21. Seniors Wanted for Michigan Adventure

The seniors group at First Broad Street United Methodist Church is organizing a bus trip to Michigan's upper peninsula. The Sept. 14-19 trip includes two nights at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island and a carriage tour of the island. Cost is $816 per person, departing from Kingsport, Tenn.
