TWC alumni: Cheer on the Lady Bulldogs

Tennessee Wesleyan College invites all its graduates to cheer on the Lady Bulldogs, who currently have the longest winning streak in women’s college basketball, during the biggest game of the season. “Alumni Night” begins Thursday, Feb. 12, 5:30 p.m. in Robb Gymnasium, when the women’s team tips off against Bryan College. The men’s game will start at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for TWC alumni and their families. For more information, call Susan Buttram, director of alumni relations, at (423) 746-5330.

Transformation is cancelled; nurse seminar, postponed

‘Transformation 2004,’ the annual spiritual-growth event sponsored by the Board of Laity – originally scheduled for April – has been cancelled. For more information, e-mail Wesley Institute Director Caryl Griffin or Conference Lay Leader Bob Lockaby.

A continuing education event for parish nurses, originally scheduled for March 16-19 at Cokesbury Center, has been postponed until fall. For more information, e-mail the connectional ministries office.

Scholarships in communications, music & worship arts

United Methodist Communications is accepting applications for a fellowship and two scholarships in religion communications between now and March 15. The awards are designated for racial ethnic minority graduates and undergraduates, and for graduate students in general. The Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts offers annual scholarships for students planning careers in church music and/or worship arts. Chattanooga sponsors prayer & healing conference

The Wesley Institute is endorsing “Prayer and Healing Mission,” a three-day conference at Hixson UMC, March 19-21. The gathering will be led by the Revs. Larry and Audrey Eddings, United Methodist clergy serving in the Pacific Northwest Conference. Clergy will earn 0.6 CEUs for full participation. Knoxville sponsors youth retreat with Wayne Kerr

The Knoxville District is sponsoring, “Refuge,” a three-day youth retreat at Tellico Plains, Tenn., April 30-May 2. The agenda includes four praise and worship sessions, small groups, a bonfire and marshmallow roast, and other activities. Music will be led by Wayne Kerr, a favorite of Divine Rhythm.
