Transformation is cancelled; nurse seminar, postponed
‘Transformation 2004,’ the annual spiritual-growth event sponsored by the Board of Laity – originally scheduled for April – has been cancelled. For more information, e-mail Wesley Institute Director Caryl Griffin or Conference Lay Leader Bob Lockaby.

United Methodist Communications is accepting applications for a fellowship and two scholarships in religion communications between now and March 15. The awards are designated for racial ethnic minority graduates and undergraduates, and for graduate students in general. “Living Our Promise,” an Igniting Ministry training event aimed at helping local churches learn about marketing themselves and honing their welcoming skills, will be held March 27 at Embry Hills UMC in Atlanta. The training session is one of eight using the resources and ideas of the denomination’s Igniting Ministry media campaign. Registration fee is $40 for each participating congregation. Hiwassee hosts Celia Whitler concert next week
Hiwassee College chaplain Cynthia Pennington invites the community to enjoy two free performances by Christian vocalist, Celia Whitler, on the Hiwassee campus in Madisonville at 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Both performances will take place in the Hiwassee College chapel, Buckner UMC. Guests of the 8 p.m. performance are invited to stay for a reception in the fellowship hall.
