A Focus on 'real world' ministry

CLERGY MEMBERS said they appreciated the "real world" message presented by the Rev. Rudy Rasmus at Ministers' Convocation last month. In Lake Junaluska, N.C., 281 ministers gathered for fellowship, workshops, and sessions led by Rasmus, an urban missionary and pastor at St. John United Methodist Church in Houston. The four-day event, occurring Feb. 20-23, also included worship led by Bishop James Swanson and opportunities for exercise, financial counseling, and mental-health counseling. Of all 12 districts, Knoxville had the highest representation, with 36 clergy in attendance.
