Al wants you! New volunteer coordinator named
Al Shaver of Union Grove UMC was recently named southern region coordinator for the conferences Volunteer Labor Program, the missions office recently announced. Shavers first order of business is to generate a volunteer labor pool for churches in need. If you are in the Chattanooga, Cleveland, Knoxville, Maryville, or Oak Ridge Districts and have skills in carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing, painting or other construction areas Al Shaver wants you! News Briefs and The Call recently reported that Maria and Bill Humbane, Zimbabwe missionaries, will be available to speak in Holston churches this fall. The Humbanes trip has been delayed until early summer 2004. For more information, contact Bill Daugherty by (email) or (865) 690-4080.

Whats happening in Elizabethton and Chattanooga
The following churches have e-mailed us about upcoming events:
&Mac183;Watauga Point UMC, in Elizabethton, Tenn., will host His Own, a group from Maryville, on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. For more information, send email.
Washington Hills UMC, in Chattanooga, is planning a revival Oct. 26-28, starting nightly at 7 p.m. The preacher is the Rev. Rick Wright, pastor at Holly Ave UMC, South Pittsburg, Tenn. For more information, send email.
Hixson UMC, in Chattanooga, will sponsor its annual Health Fair on Monday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is free, with the exception of flu shots ($15) and pneumonia shots ($20) for non-Medicare participants. For more information, send email.

If you havent already registered for Divine Rhythm, Holstons young adult event held Jan. 23-24 now is the time. This years speaker is the Rev. Arnetta Beverly of Western North Carolina Conference. Wayne Kerr of Houston is returning with his band to lead praise and worship. Divine Rhythm also has a new home this year in Gatlinburgs IMAX theatre!
