The Peace Circle, an interfaith group, is sponsoring the fast to highlight two objectives: making Iraq a safer place for U.S. troops and encouraging the Pentagon to create a simple process to allow Iraqi families to locate loved ones. Contemporary worship is ‘a fad’: Who said that?

“Now this fad that is taking place called ‘contemporary worship’ within many mainline denominations is just that, a fad. In my opinion, and only mine, this type of worship environment centers on entertainment and making the people ‘feel good.’ The cross of Christ is never mentioned nor the cost of discipleship.”

–The Rev. John Sheldon, pastor at Central UMC, Knoxville District, in a recent church newsletter column.
