Church Street produces 7th ‘Walk Through Bethlehem’

Hundreds of volunteers are preparing for Church Street UMC’s annual holiday event, “Walk Through Bethlehem,” in Knoxville, Tenn. Experience Bethlehem as it might have been the night Jesus was born on Sunday, Dec. 21, 1 to 7 p.m. For more information, click here or call (865) 524-3048.

Celebrate Christmas with the children of Holston Home

On Tuesday night, Dec. 16, in Greeneville, Tenn., join the staff and children of Holston Home for a special Christmas gathering. Promptly at 6:45 p.m., Santa will begin delivering a horse-drawn wagon of gifts to children living on the Greeneville campus. Candles and hot chocolate provided. Local churches announce additional holiday events

* Trentville UMC, in Strawberry Plains, Tenn., is hosting a “Walk Thru Nativity” Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13-14, from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call (423) 933-5041.

* Sulphur Springs UMC and Gray UMC, both located in Gray, Tenn., are joining three other churches to present “A Hometown Christmas.” The third annual musical event happens Dec. 11-14, beginning at 7 p.m. each evening at Gray UMC Family Life Center. Personalized Resurrection T-shirt deadline extended

Want your youth group’s Resurrection T-shirts personalized with your church’s name? Youth at Powell UMC, winners of the T-shirt design contest, have extended the deadline for pre-ordering shirts to Sunday, Dec. 11. Survey: Younger people are more critical of clergy

Younger Americans are more critical of clergy than are older Americans, a recent Gallup survey shows. Just 44 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds rate the honesty and ethical standards of clergy as very high or high, compared with 59 percent of 30- to 49-year-olds, 57 percent of 50 to 64-year-olds, and 65 percent of those aged 65 or older.
