TOP STORY: Swing into spring with golf tournaments

Each of Holston's four camps is planning a benefit golf tournament this year to "support the vital work of introducing young people to Christ and discipleship," organizers say. Two of the tournaments will be held in April. The others are in June and September.

On Monday, April 18, Camp Wesley Woods will host its 2nd annual tournament at Gettysvue Polo, Golf, and Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. Tee time is 1 p.m. with registration beginning at noon. Entry fee: $100 per player. Hole sponsorships are still being sought at $200 per hole. Call (865) 448-2246 or visit www.campwesleywoods.com.

On Saturday, April 23, Buffalo Mountain Camp will host its 11th annual tournament at Tri-Cities Golf Club in Blountville, Tenn. A continental breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. with tee time at 8 a.m. Lunch will follow the tournament. Entry fee: $65 per player or $55 for students. Hiltons Memorial UMC, in Big Stone Gap District, had 377 in worship attendance on Easter Sunday. What was yours? The Call wants to know. The United Methodist response to the Schiavo case

United Methodists have a resource for considering the type of issues raised in the Terri Schiavo case. The resolution "Faithful Care for Persons Suffering and Dying" was passed by the 2004 United Methodist General Conference, the denomination's top legislative body.

Wesley Institute: New training opportunity in Saltville

The Wesley Institute recently announced a new training opportunity in Saltville, Va. Fred Craddock will lead lectures from 10 a.m. to noon, April 10-13, at Madam Russell UMC in Abingdon District. Revivals will follow each evening at 7 p.m. The lectures are open to all clergy and laity. No registration is required. For more information, contact Rev. Janet Richardson at (276) 496-4934.

Delegates needed to represent Holston in Korea

The meeting of the World Methodist Council will be held July 18-19, 2006, at the Chong Dong Methodist Church in Seoul, Korea. The 500 members of the Council meet every five years. The Holston Annual Conference is entitled to nominate two persons who will serve on the council.

The 19th World Methodist Conference will be held July 20-24, 2006, at the Kumnan Methodist Church in Seoul, Korea. The Holston Annual Conference is entitled to send 40 delegates. Delegates are responsible for their own expenses.

Holston clergy and lay members who wish to represent Holston in Korea should contact Norma Edwards by by e-mail or at (865) 690-4080.
