National Bible Week happens Nov. 16-23 and includes two Sundays. To commemorate the event, the General Board of Discipleship recommends this idea: Have the children’s choir or Sunday school classes learn the musical setting of all the names of the books of the Bible, then sing it during worship. A grassroots group of United Methodists from Western Pennsylvania plans to saturate the denomination’s General Conference 2004 in prayer. A Christmas play to get you in the Christmas spirit
The fine arts department at Tennessee Wesleyan College will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at 7 p.m., Nov. 13, 14 and 15 at Townsend Hall. The story is of a church Christmas pageant taken over by the Herdmans, “the wildest, toughest kids in town.” Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. Covenant discipleship workshop next week in Knoxville
The Rev. Steve Manskar of the General Board of Discipleship will lead a “Covenant Discipleship” workshop on Saturday, Nov. 15, in Knoxville. Hosted by The Carpenter’s House of Knox Area Rescue Ministries, the workshop costs $15, including materials and lunch. For more information or to register, contact the Rev. Younger people prefer small churches, research shows
A recent Barna survey discovered that small churches are more likely than larger churches to draw people who are not college graduates and are more likely to appeal to people with lower household incomes. Research also showed that adults under 35 years of age are more likely than older adults to attend small churches. To read the entire survey results, click here.
