Annual Conference: May 13 drop-dead deadline

If you will be involved in any presentations or worship services at Annual Conference, the communications office must receive all presentation information and Power Point materials by Thursday, May 13. This includes all hymn selections, soloists needing backup tracks, videos, etc. If information is not received in the Knoxville conference office by May 13, good results cannot be guaranteed. ‘Book of Reports’ now available online

The 2004 "Book of Reports" will be mailed to Annual Conference members on May 12. In the meantime, the publication can be found online at www.holstonconference.com/ac/. The “Book of Reports” link is in the upper right-hand corner.

Wanted: Handprints from Holston kids

The children's ministry office invites kids to participate in the launch of "Grand Camp" by sending in their handprints to help decorate the auditorium at Annual Conference. For details, click here.

Local churches announce prayer breakfast, concert

Seymour UMC, Maryville District, will sponsor a women's prayer breakfast on Saturday, May 15, at 9 a.m. Speaker: Angela Thomas, author. Cost: $10. Seating is limited. Call the church office at (865) 573-9711 to order tickets.

Vermont UMC, Kingsport District, will sponsor a Lyra concert on Tuesday, June 8, at 7 p.m. "LYRA" is a six-person acapella choir of post-graduate music professionals from St. Petersburg Conservatoire, Russia. No cost, but donations will be requested. Contact the church office at (423) 288-2801 for more information.

Splitting the UMC: Who said that?

"I don't want to go there, and there are many who would take the same stand. I know a lot of people have strong feelings, but that's not where I am."

–The Rev. Eddie Fox, director of World Evangelism for the World Methodist Council and a delegate from the Holston Conference, on a proposed resolution to split the United Methodist Church. The resolution never came to the General Conference floor.
